the week that was.

hello! we did it again sorry.. we didnt mean to have such a long break. but we've had some technical difficulties (very sloooooow internet) and have been super busy. but we also have all been up to lots of fun things this week we need to fill you all in on :)


I. jones' week was packed full of study, study and more study. but the good news? shes now finished uni for the year (YAY!!!!) apart from study she went out for some delicious german food at löwenbräu in the rocks with T. jones' lovely bf who was in sydney for work. as good as finishing uni was the highlight of her week was an awesome surprise in the mail from her own bf, a Lomo Mini Diana! shes super new to lomography but she still promises to share her first photos with you all as soon as shes finished her first film. dont expect to much lol. despite all the study and the crappy weather in sydney this week I.jones managed to spot a plane written love message in the sky above her apartment on the one day the sun decided to show its face. cute <3 

as much as I. jones' week was study, study, study G. jones' was eBay listings, eBay descriptions and eBay photos. we're sorry we know that we promised the new GI jones collection would be up last week but with the sloooow internet it wasn't really possible. but thanks to G. jones' hard work all this week look out for them on eBay next week. pinky promise this time :)what else did she get up to? nothing less the an extreme and we reckon awesome hair make over or under as the case may be at the famous The God Barber on the Gold Coast! and the cutest thing in her week was her daughter Selma's first circus performance, the two of them even did trapeeze together. we only wish she got some photos. but she did get some photos of her new hair-do.


 


















even though T. jones was missing her bf and partner in crime this week she still managed to have a busy week working and more importantly planning her melbourne holiday! we are all so jealous. she is spending what is surely to be an amazing weekend with her best friends from high school. and even though they have all moved to different towns and cities they have all managed to get the weekend off to spend together catch-up and just have old school fun. sounds like bliss to us. she promises to post heaps of pictures from her trip, when she gets back. if you have any suggestions about where she should visit shes open to all suggestions and recommendations on all must see and must do melbourne attractions.


oh and we almost forgot G. jones has put her entries in the Buy Nothing New Month competition we'll let you know how she goes... but it seems that only one of her entires worked so fingers crossed its the winning one.

turban tuesday.

we are absolutely loving the colours on this fabulous headscarf/turban!! our new mission for the end of Buy Nothing New Month is to scour the op shops for some fantastic vintage printed fabric so we can recreate this look for summer, we will keep you posted on our progress.


also all eBay orders from Saturday night have been sent out today so if you bought something from GI jones it should be on its way to you now :) and all our new stock shall be up by the end of the week.

new stock & noodles.

hello! after almost a week of not posting we are back. this past week has been super busy for all of us jones' with work, uni, children but most importantly buying and organizing new stock for our eBay. above is a sneak peek preview of what will soon be available from GI jones and thats not even all of it. we are so excited this is our biggest collection of vintage and statement jewellery and accessories so far! it includes vintage leather clutches and bags, heaps of vintage leather belts, gold jewellery, straw hats by Akubra and Blue Dog and so much more. (we'll post them all on the blog and facebook when they hit eBay)





 


I. jones managed to get away from uni and eBay listings for a night and decided to check out the Night Noodle Markets in Sydney's Hyde park. good friends, a bottle of wine, delicious asian food and not so asian poffertjes (dutch pancakes) have made the rest of us at GI jones jealous. if you live in Sydney I. jones suggests you definitely check it out though tomorrow is the last night. for tips on which of the stalls to get food from (there are so many different restaurant stands to choose from) you can check out an overview of the markets at christhinksfood.

headstrong.

'Our band Headstrong has just recently recorded our first CD, and needed to shoot some photos for the cover. We are all high school students and decided to get our clothes for the cover from Salvos Stores. We all found something awesome to wear like a polo shirt, flanny, hat and a couple of sick singlets. We are happy that we have done our bit for the environment, and were able to get cool stuff really cheap. Our mates that have seen the photos are impressed at our clothes and are going to check out the Salvos themselves. We are now all converted Salvos shoppers and had a great time putting together our CD cover.'

this is our favourite entry so far in the salvos buy nothing new month competition. it comes from a high school band headstrong who wore clothes from salvos stores to shoot their bands album cover. we think that this photo proves that second-hand fashion isn't just for thrifty and stylish girls but trendy boys as well! 


we had been feeling a little bit uninspired because of the rainy weather recently but looking at all the great entries so far we have our motivation back! so make sure you're following GI jones so you don't miss out on our own buy nothing new entries. we're excited!!

pinch & a punch

today is the first of October and that means the start of the Salvo's Buy Nothing New month and we at GI jones have decided to take up the challenge.this means that our posts this month will be almost entirely devoted to our vintage and second-hand finds. this means accessories for our store, clothes for us, and pretty things for our houses! we can't wait being lovers of all things vintage we don't think we need another excuse to scour vintage, second hand and op shops for more fabulous finds but we are happy to have one for a good cause :)
